it is not enough just to
miss you. i have to learn
how to walk again; how to
live without meat and
kissing, how to sleep
shaped like a balled up
fist. it is not enough
just to miss you. i have
to adopt twins in
Africa, name them Lost
and Weird, forget to
feed them. i have to
go to every pet store
in America and rescue
all the seahorses. i have
to tattoo D A R K B I R D
inside my lip and stand
in children's playgrounds
like a broken arm, creaking. it
is not enough just to miss
you. it has to hurt. i
have to write poems
that last forever, interpret
dreams about buildings
burning down, flies who
leave their partners for
sad New York waitresses. i
have to work on my
posture. shave my head, wear
white dresses. i have to
be a chaffinch when i curse
into my fingers. it is not
enough to just miss you. i
have to be a crazy
crocus-woman; my lovely
hand curled close around
your heart, a bud sealed
tightly, tightly, tightly...

Can it never be enough? We may not know for certain, but in it is not enough by ~emilygolightly she has done in this poem what many would consider impossible: taking all of the emotion in missing a person and putting it into words, the poem becoming more obsessed and frantic until the reader sees how the missing person has grasped her: 'tightly, tightly, tightly.' enchanting, refreshing, wounding.

Pretty good, I must say! A lot of strong images and I loved the balled up fist simile. My only issue is probably the spelling of "Wierd" -- the correct spelling is "Weird" unless, of course, you meant to misspell it!

Beautiful and poignant. I love the repetition and the format. Exquisite imagery.

This is really beautiful. Usually I don't like really "artsy" poems, but this one reminds me of Heath Ledger. :cries:

You're messing with the wrong sideshow.
:iconk-sajid:
That's quite good work; some lines stand out more than others. If I may mention it, your enjambments don't make much sense to me at all at most places. But congrats on the DD.

Ooh, I like that line. I thought the end of the poem might have been a little weaker/duller then the rest, but overall this was harsh and wonderful. I like what you did with the format, too.

Vampires do not sparkle, clumsiness does not a well-developed character make, and Stephenie Meyer needs to start keeping her sexual fantasies to herself.
